There are general guidelines that we can follow when assessing the astrocartography map. These guidelines are quite broad and do not account for a person's individual planetary configuration in their natal chart.
West is best: To position a planet in an angular house, you need to remain On or West of the line. Angular houses (1, 4, 7, 10) are considered the most powerful in astrocartography. Therefore, you want your benefic planets in these houses, while keeping malefics far away. These houses represent the 1st house of self, 4th house of family, 7th house of relationships, and 10th house of career and public image.
If you find yourself East of the line, you will be placed in a cadent house (3, 6, 9, 12). Cadent houses (east of the line) can also be beneficial, except for the AC LINE/12TH house, where your energy may be hidden. Though cadent houses are weaker, the planetary energy here is not as strong or harsh. They include the 3rd house of communication, 6th house of service/work, 9th house of travel/foreign matters/spirituality, and the 12th house of the beyond/things hidden/mental illness.
On or WEST of the AC LINE places you in the 1st house of self-identity, the physical body, self-image, personality, character, and new beginnings.
East of the AC line lands you in the 12th house of the unconscious, where things are often hidden from ourselves and others, including mental illness and escapism. It's advisable not to place planets here unless you are comfortable with unconscious or inconsistent energy, as this area carries a karmic nature that may manifest in destructive ways. Neptune and Jupiter tend to feel at home in this space.
On or West of the IC line pertains to family, home, privacy, the mother, ancestors, and our roots.
East of the IC line focuses on communication, media, siblings, short-distance travel, neighbors, community, early education, and knowledge.
On or West of the DC line reflects how we relate to others in one-on-one relationships, including romantic and business partnerships, contracts, and diplomacy.
East of the DC line emphasizes service to others, work and daily routines, health, pets, co-workers, and nutrition/fitness.
On or West of the MC line relates to our public image, how others perceive us, our career, the father figure, authorities, and the legacy we create.
East of the MC line covers higher education, travel, all things foreign and cultural, law (both human and divine), spirituality, and philosophy.
Be cautious of harsh aspects, such as squares and oppositions. Just because you desire your Sun on the AC line or in the 1st house does not mean it should be placed there if it is square to your Saturn or Pluto. Check to see if that Moon is square your Pluto or if your Venus is square Uranus, as this could lead to obsessions, control issues, and relationship challenges.
Examine the paran lines and destiny crossings in an area. Your planetary lines might look great, but could intersect with an Uranus/Mars line.
Your ruling planet can provide a glow-up. Don’t hide your natural talent; bring your ruling planet into the spotlight.
Also, review planetary dignities and house rulers in your natal chart.
Even if a planet is a malefic, if it is well-placed, it can bring focus, action, power, and innovation into your life. Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility.
Living directly on a planetary line (within 50 miles) gives the strongest energy associated with that planet. The influence decreases gradually the further away you move from the line, with a mild effect still felt at 600 miles. Up to 300 miles away provides a moderate strength, while distances beyond 300 to 600 miles are more weakly perceived.
Having too many planetary lines in your vicinity can be overstimulating, as their energies blend and amplify. Too much of a good thing may not yield the desired results.
Conversely, living far from planetary lines can be relaxing, as there is less energetic activation to overstimulate you.
Most importantly, pay attention to any strong urges to visit or live in a certain place. Are you drawn to a specific region, culture, or city? This inclination is a sign that your soul wishes to grow through the opportunities and challenges that location offers.

The example natal chart for the John Doe Map above. While this chart is not a difficult chart, there are some areas of possible hardship. Mostly around the intense conjunct of pluto/venus/sun in the 4th house of home and family. Adding that his 2nd house ruler is the sun, only intensifies this. While venus and the sun are wonderful in the 4th house, Pluto's presence creates challenges in the home

This is John Doe's Relocation chart. We (hypothetically) moved him to London, England. Now his intense homelife and problematic 4th house pluto becomes a magnetic personality with his Venus and Sun conjunction In the 1st house. He still has the benefit of Jupiter, now on his midheaven for career and public growth. All diginities are well placed and aspects improve prospects.
